EMERGENCY AND HURRICANE/STORM PLAN

***Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School follows the emergency and storm procedures set by Miami-Dade County Schools for the opening/closing/reopening of schools in the event of an emergency or a threatening storm. This information can be obtained by listening to television and radio stations.

***If Miami-Dade County Schools are closed, we (OLL) will automatically be closed. However, if there should be extraordinary circumstances before or after an emergency or storm, which are specific to OLL, it may be required for OLL to be closed even though Miami-Dade County Schools are open. For example, if the county schools are open, but there is no electrical power at OLL, OLL will be closed. In that case, the procedures listed below would be put into effect.

***If the Miami-Dade County Schools are not in session, the procedures listed below would be put into effect.

 Please read the following very carefully:

  1. There will be informational recordings on the following school telephone (305)362-5315, extensions: 650, 651, 652, 653, 654, and 660. You will be able to call any one of theses extensions to get information regarding the school’s schedule.
  2. The OLL faculty and staff will use a storm call chain to inform one another of the school’s schedule (opening/closing/reopening). In turn the HOMEROOM TEACHERS will call the homeroom mothers/liaisons with updated information.
  3. If the school telephone lines are busy, parents can call the homeroom mothers that are in charge of their child’s/children’s homeroom.
  4. Parents may also listen for any news pertaining to the opening/closing/reopening of OLL on 610 AM radio and Y100 FM radio stations.
  5. Parents may also tune into the news on channels 7, 10, and 23 (on the television) for any news pertaining to the opening/closing/reopening of OLL.
  6. All of the storm/hurricane information will be posted on this web site.
